He settled in Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1991 and began painting landscapes in the Back River near his home. Karl and his wife, Anne, became active members of the North River Art Society in 1997 and his focus began to shift towards figurative realism.
Since 1997, he has studied with notable artists such as John Kilroy, Robert Liberace, Dan Thompson, and Johanna Harmon. He has become a notable portrait and figurative artist, and was the Court Painter at King Richard’s Faire from 2006-2016. His portraits hang in homes all over the world.
